Anastasios G. Garbis
Hi, I’m Anastasios (“Taso”) and am the founder of Garbis Law, LLC. My practice is geared towards helping individuals and businesses identify and protect their valuable intellectual property.
When working with me, you will quickly find out that I am not looking to merely find a way to squeeze the most fees out of you. I will review your matter, let you know what I think and lay out the options available to you. The goal is to get you the protection you need and avoid unnecessary expenses.
With over 10 years of experience, I have represented clients in a wide range of industries, including restaurants, breweries, cannabis companies, fitness professionals and many others.
I was born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago and now live in the western suburbs with my wife, two kids and our miniature dachshund Cinnamon (yes, she has an Instagram account).
When I’m not working on protecting your brand or being bossed around by my kids, you most likely could find me in the gym or playing in various basketball leagues around the area.

FAQ
Can you represent clients outside of Illinois?
Yes. I represent clients located throughout the United States and internationally.
What information do you provide during a consultation?
The initial consultation is a 15 minute phone call to get an idea of whether or not we are a good fit. You can expect to hear general information about the topic you are calling about and what it is like working with me. I will also ask questions about your business to learn more about you. One thing you should not expect during this consultation is specific legal advice. That comes after an engagement letter has been signed and we have established an attorney-client relationship.
Do you charge flat fees or hourly?
The majority of my practice is built around a flat fee business model. I think it is extremely important for you to know how much something will cost from the beginning. It gives you a better idea of how to budget properly and avoids being surprised by additional fees. With that said, there are a few scenarios where an hourly fee needs to be utilized and that will be discussed with you.
What if I don’t know if I need a patent, trademark or copyright?
You’re not alone! Oftentimes, clients will call me saying they need a patent on something when they really need a trademark and vice versa. Simple terminology will be explained to you so you understand what it is you are getting. The important thing is that you are taking the first step in protecting extremely valuable assets, which unfortunately is often overlooked.
